St. Aloysius Gonzaga:
A Model of Purity and Devotion

St. Aloysius Gonzaga (1568–1591) is one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic Church, known for his deep commitment to God, purity of heart, and selfless service. Born into a noble family in Italy, Aloysius was drawn to the religious life from an early age, rejecting the luxuries of his aristocratic upbringing to pursue a life of humility and service.

At the age of 18, he entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), despite the objections of his family, who had hoped for him to take a more prominent position in society. Aloysius devoted himself to prayer, study, and the care of the sick, especially during a plague that struck Rome in 1591. His selfless service to the afflicted, despite his own frail health, led to his death from the disease at the young age of 23.

Aloysius' life was marked by extraordinary piety, humility, and purity, and he is often regarded as the patron saint of youth and students. His feast day is celebrated on June 21.

“I am not my own; I have given myself to Jesus.” — St. Aloysius Gonzaga

St. Aloysius' short but impactful life continues to inspire young people around the world to live with zeal for holiness, purity of heart, and a deep love for God.
